The Attic of the Colosseum
Recently, a new section of the Colosseum has been opened: the attic. It’s the highest part of the building.
Disclaimer: Italian ArtVentures DOES NOT sell just tickets; we sell Private Tours with skip-the-line access. That means we cannot just sell you a ticket; it’s included in the price of all our Colosseum Private Tours.
Until a few months ago, visitors were only allowed to visit the underground, the arena, the first and the second floor, which was the highest reachable point of the Colosseum.
Now, if you book the Full Experience Attic ticket, you can reach the very top of the Amphitheater, and see areas that are restricted to most visitors.
Visit the 3rd, the 4th and even the 5th tier!
The new ticket allows you to use a brand-new glass elevator that will take you to the 3rd tier of the Colosseum.
Form here, you can walk through one of the best preserved galleries, until you reach a wonderful terrace that offers a full view of the inside of the Colosseum, the Palatine Hill, the Arch of Constantine and the Temple of Venus and Rome.
This area is accessible to anyone, even to people in a wheelchair, as the elevator grants an easy and fast access.
But, that is not the end. You can climb a couple of steep staircases (not accessible if you’re in a wheelchair) and reach the 4th and even the 5th tier, the very top of the Colosseum.
This is where the women and the slaves used to sit: they were far away from the action, but the panorama was – and is – outstanding.
The 5th tier offers a truly breath-taking view. Also, the whole attic area is open to a small percentage of the visitors, therefore it will much less crowded than the rest of the building.
