Tour Description
Discover two of the most fascinating places in Italy with our Pompeii and Positano Tour.
If you’re spending some time in the area of Sorrento, Naples or Amalfi, you can’t miss Pompeii and Positano.
Our professional tour guides will help you explore these two world-famous sights in the most comfortable, informative, and entertaining way.
1. Pompeii
Our driver will pick you up at your hotel, and you’ll start your Pompeii and Positano tour with a visit to Pompeii.
Here, you’ll meet your local expert – a professional guide who will accompany you through this vast archaeological site.
Pompeii is a truly unique place. It’s an ancient Roman town that was buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in the year 79 AD, and then forgotten until 1748.
The archaeologists who dug it up could not believe their eyes – the ashes of the volcano had preserved the city for almost 1,700 years.
And it wasn’t just the buildings that were almost intact – many of the decorations had also survived, and were amazingly well preserved.
In Pompeii, you can admire the stuccoes, wall paintings, and even some pieces of furniture from the Roman age.
It’s like an art history book, written on the walls and columns of the city.
As you walk through the streets of Pompeii, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped back in time to the 1st century AD.
You’ll wander through the public baths where the Romans bathed every day, and walk in the footsteps of the ancient Pompeiians, along the same cobbled roads. You’ll also see the evocative temples where the gods were worshiped.
During your visit, your guide will help you to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Roman art. As well as finding out what these intriguing artworks represent, you’ll also learn about the different techniques and styles.
Your Pompeii and Positano tour will last about two hours. Afterwards, it will be time for a lunch break; your guide will happily recommend a traditional local pizzeria or restaurant.
2. Positano
Next, you’ll continue your day in Positano, the “pearl” of the Amalfi Coast. This will be the second stop of your Pompeii and Positano tour.
Positano is one of the most picturesque places in Italy. From the top of the hill, you’ll wander through the small alleys that lead to the dazzling blue Mediterranean sea.
Positano is also called the “vertical” city, since it’s almost entirely built into the slope of the Lattari mountain. The main parts of the city are connected by charming alleys and flights of steps.
The town is full of pretty little houses painted in pastel colors, overlooking the gorgeous Li Galli islands. It offers an unforgettable view of the Amalfi Coast, Capri and the Gulf.
Take your time and stop for pictures, or enjoy a drink and a pastry in one of the many local bars and cafeterias.
After your guide has shown you the highlights of the town, you’ll have some free time for shopping. Positano is also famous worldwide for its linen products and colorful clothes – “Positano style”!
Enjoy the smell of the fresh lemons, and feel the Mediterranean sun on your skin. Breathe in all the beauty you can during your day trip.
At the end of your Pompeii and Positano tour, your driver will take you back to your hotel.
But after a day in paradise, you may not want to go back…
